The Last Two Months
The last two months.
We listed our house. We accepted an offer a day later.
We had 10 days of due diligence to find a house. During this time, I was on 2 weekend break and had 3 weddings in a row coming up. More than that, Henry had surgery. We were sitting in the recovery room at CHOA waiting for him to come out and were negotiating our offer on a house. It was accepted.
A month after his surgery, Henry broke 4 bones in his foot. We closed on both houses 10 days later. It’s now been another 12 days. We’re still surrounded by boxes, but at least Henry’s cast is gone.
After we bought our new house, Stephen and I decided to buy a new bed. The boxes came, I dragged one of them up the stairs. The other two are still in our living room. We had also bought a new mattress. However, we still have our previous mattress until we get a new guest bed. Both mattresses are currently on the floor in our master bedroom. The older, smaller mattress is currently serving as a holding spot for Stephen’s clothes as they get dumped from boxes and make their way … somewhere. That leads us to yesterday’s celebratory laundry fight.
The last couple of months have been beyond hectic, and the fall is looking like it’ll be just as busy. Busy is good, of course, but so is slowing down and just embracing the mess.
