I blinked and now my baby boy is one. I knew Henry’s first year would go by fast, but I had no idea just how quickly it would go. When the son of one of my closest friends turned one, she described it as the longest shortest year of her life. Henry was 4 months old at that time, and I could already understand a little of what she meant. But now? I’m absolutely amazed by how true that is.

Henry, you’re such an amazing little boy. You’re beyond sweet and so very smart. It melts us to see you grab your stuffed animals (and Gandalf if he’ll let you) and immediately give them hugs and kisses. Watching you figure things out has become one of our favourite things in life. It’s incredible how quickly you pick things up. You’re clever and funny and charming – a combination I know will work greatly in your favour as this mama’s little boy. (Oh, am I in such trouble there…) You have brought such unbelievable joy into our lives. Your daddy and I love you so very much, Henrybug. Happy 1st birthday, sweetheart!
